Today is a public holiday in Ticino. They have 14 of them, and just when you have chores to be completed, all the shops are shut. Mind you, they shut at many other times as well (eg. I went to buy new hiking shoes in the biggest shorts store in Lugano, but it was closed for lunch).
Anyhow, we decided to take the Lotus over the Tremola Pass, but unfortunately it was still closed,
so we took the modern Gotthard Pass to the top. Still quite a bit of snow at 2,000 metres, eh!
