Lugano is the largest town (50,000 residents) in Ticino, the Italian-speaking part of Switzerland. It is half-way between the better known Italian lakes Maggiore and Como. Each of these lakes are partly in Italy and partly in Switzerland. It is said that Ticino has the lifestyle of Italy but the organisation of Switzerland. However, our Milanese friends suggests that, as a result, it really has neither.
